1. The DLSS 5 War: Indie Developers Revolt Against Nvidia

The gaming industry tonight witnessed one of the largest developer revolts in history. David Szymanski, CEO of New Blood Interactive (makers of ULTRAKILL and Dusk), issued a call to action: "Cripple their sales, tank their stock price. Stop collaborating with Nvidia as developers."

The reason for this fury? DLSS 5 - Nvidia's new technology unveiled at GTC 2026. Unlike previous versions that only performed upscaling, DLSS 5 uses generative AI to alter geometry, textures, and lighting. Jensen Huang called it the "GPT moment for graphics."

But developers say DLSS 5 is an "AI slop filter" that destroys hand-crafted game graphics. Side-by-side comparisons show character faces dramatically changing to look like AI-generated stock imagery. One developer said: "Nobody wants their games to look like Italian brainrot."

Jensen Huang backtracked on the Lex Fridman podcast, saying: "I understand why gamers and developers are upset. I don't love AI slop myself." But he still defended DLSS 5, stating the technology is given to artists and its use is optional.

2. Oracle Fires 30,000 People via 6 AM Email

One of the largest mass layoffs in tech history happened this morning. Oracle terminated between 20,000 to 30,000 employees (18% of workforce) via emails sent at 6 AM. Without any prior warning.

Oracle's goal? Free up $8 to $10 billion in annual cash flow for AI infrastructure investment. The company disclosed in its SEC filing that restructuring costs will reach $2.1 billion.

India took the hardest hit - approximately 12,000 Oracle employees in India were laid off. This was Oracle's largest development hub outside America. Employees in 5 different countries simultaneously received termination emails.

Interesting note: Oracle released its Q3 FY2026 earnings report the same week it sent termination emails. In this report, a hidden sentence existed: "We are restructuring product development teams into smaller groups and using AI code generation to build software with fewer people."

In other words, Oracle was using AI to replace humans - and now laid-off employees are re-reading this report and realizing the clues were there all along.

3. Terafab: Elon Musk Launches $25 Billion Chip Factory

In a historic announcement, Elon Musk officially launched Terafab - a joint semiconductor fabrication facility between Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI with $20-25 billion investment in Austin, Texas.

Terafab's goal? Produce 1 terawatt of computing power annually. To understand this number: the entire US electrical grid generates approximately 0.5 terawatts annually. Terafab wants to produce twice that amount in compute!

Musk said at the launch ceremony at Austin's old Seaholm Power Plant: "The chip industry only produces 2% of the computing power my companies need. We have to do this ourselves."

Terafab will produce 2-nanometer chips - in direct competition with TSMC and Intel. But the key difference is these chips are specifically designed for Tesla's self-driving cars, Optimus robots, and SpaceX's space data centers.

Yes, you read that right: space data centers. SpaceX filed an application in January 2026 to launch up to 1 million data center satellites into low Earth orbit. Terafab will produce the chips for these satellites.

4. Artemis II: NASA Astronauts Reach the Moon Tomorrow

While Earth is embroiled in tech wars, 4 NASA astronauts are approaching the Moon. Artemis II - the first human mission to the Moon in 50 years - will reach its closest approach to the Moon tomorrow, April 6.

The Artemis II mission launched from Kennedy Space Center on April 1. This is a flyby mission - meaning astronauts will orbit the Moon but not land. The main goal is testing life support systems and validating procedures for future missions.

Astronauts today (mission day 5) sent stunning images of Earth. In one image, Earth appears as a small crescent through the Orion capsule window. NASA wrote: "One last look at Earth before reaching the Moon."

Tomorrow at 2:45 PM Eastern Time, Orion will pass approximately 130 kilometers from the lunar surface. This will be the closest a crewed spacecraft has come to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972.

Artemis III - which will be the first human Moon landing in 50 years - is now scheduled for 2028. But first, Artemis II must prove the systems work.

5. Nvidia GTC 2026: Introducing Vera Rubin Ultra and NemoClaw

NemoClaw was also introduced - an open source partnership between Nvidia and OpenClaw. This is a framework for building multi-task AI agents that can perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

But perhaps the most important announcement was the introduction of Groq 3 LPU. This is the first chip from Groq startup that Nvidia acquired in a $20 billion deal - Nvidia's largest acquisition ever.

Groq 3 is a Language Processing Unit (LPU) - not a GPU. This chip is specifically designed for language model inference and claims to be 10 times faster than regular GPUs.

6. Oracle's Hidden Clue: How Employees Discovered Layoffs Were Coming

After Oracle's mass layoffs, employees started re-examining the company's Q3 FY2026 earnings report. And that's where they found the clues.

On page 47 of the report, a short paragraph existed: "We are restructuring product development teams into smaller groups. Using AI code generation tools allows us to build software with fewer engineers."

This sentence didn't attract anyone's attention when the report was released (late March). But now that 30,000 people have been laid off, its true meaning is clear: Oracle was using AI to reduce the need for human labor.

A former Oracle employee who wished to remain anonymous told The Information: "We saw managers testing AI coding tools for months. But we didn't think it meant mass layoffs."

Oracle isn't the first major company to use AI to reduce workforce, but it's the first to explicitly state this in its financial report. This is a dangerous precedent for the industry.
